General Car and Chassis Rules - Stock Cars
1. Body - Must be Coupe, Pickup, or Sedan 1948 or older. Must be metal, no fiberglass bodies in this class. Bodies must be unaltered in width and section. 2. Frame - Must be passenger car or pick-up truck only. No manufactured or fabricated "Late Model" style tube frames or IMCA Modified type frames will be allowed. 3. Front Axle - Must be I-beam or tube design, with leaf springs. Axle, spindle, hub, drum or disc brakes may be of any year or style. 4. Independent Front - "A-Frame" or "Knee-Action" front suspension must be OEM for the car, 1948 or older. 5. Transmission - Must be OEM style with clutch or torque converter. 6. Rear end, shocks, and steering are your choice. 7. Rear suspension - Must be OEM style 1948 and older (leaf springs). One sway bar and one braking shock allowed. 8. Tires - 8 inch maximum tread width or manufacturer labeled size, with safe tread. 9. Wheels - Proper width for tires. Racing wheels recommended. 10. Brakes - 3 or 4 wheel, and all must work. 11. Fuel - Must be pump gasoline, racing gasoline (Cam2, B32, etc.), or pump gasohol. Methanol allowed for flathead V8's only, and only with full personal fire protection and fuel cell. 12. Engine - 360 cubic inch limit for overhead V8's. No big blocks. No V6's. Flatheads and sixes have no limits on modifications. Carburetors only, 2 barrel maximum on overhead V8's, no fuel injection, no blowers, no turbochargers. No aluminum blocks or heads allowed. Additional Modified and Super Modified Rules
1. Cars are to be 1970 and older, or constructed using only the style and technology in general use prior to 1971. Modern sprint frames with fiberglass bodies mounted on them will not be considered legal to run, and you will be asked to leave. And yes, we do know the difference between a '95 Maxim or Gambler and a '69 Edmunds. Bodies - May be metal, aluminum, fiberglass, or any combination, and may be altered. 3. Wings - no wings will be allowed. 4. Engines - 360 cubic inch limit for all cars with unlimited carburetion. 5. Front Axle - Must be I-beam or tube style, or "A-Frame" or Knee-Action. Front suspension must be OEM 1948 or older. 6. Front Suspension - Cars with OEM frames will be allowed any front spring, including coilovers. Tube frame cars will also be allowed torsion bars. Torsion cars see Rule 1 above. 7. Tires - 15 inch maximum tread width or manufacturer label size, with safe tread. 8. Transmission / Rear Suspension - Are your choice, must be self starting. 9. Drivers Safety Equipment - SFI Approved Drivers Suit mandatory, Arm Restraints mandatory, Padded Neck or Helmet Support mandatory, SFI Approved Racing Shoes or leather. Gloves SFI Approved Nomex or leather. If you can't afford to purchase these items, and keep them fresh, you probably should consider a different hobby. General Safety Rules
1. Roll Bars - Must be at least 6-point style, built safe and strong. Unless center steered, must have 3 door bars on left side. 2. Seat - Must be bolted to roll cage or steel floor. Must have head rest. No fiberglass or plastic allowed. 3.Seat Belts - Approved racing quick-release with shoulder harness and anti-sub. Must fasten to steel floor or roll cage. 4. Gas Tank - Must be separated from driver by fire wall and securely mounted. Fuel cell is recommended. Newly built cars, fuel cell mandatory. 5. Battery - Must be shielded from driver and securely mounted. 6. Clutch or Torque Converter - Must have strong extra cover. 7. Drive Shaft - Must be painted white with hoop located within front half. 8. Fire Extinguisher - Mandatory, mounted within easy reach of driver. 9. Fire Suit - Mandatory, SFI Approved and Rated suit. Gloves, shoes, and Nomex underwear recommended. 10. Helmet - Mandatory Snell 90 or better. 11. Electric Fuel Pump - Must be wired through oil pressure switch for automatic shut-off. 12. Driver - Must be licensed driver 16 years of age or older, and a club member. General Competition Rules 1. In general, stock cars will run as one class, modified/supers will run as a seperate class. Exceptions may be made due to car counts at a given race. 2. If both classes run the feature together, colored tape will be issued and fastened to the roof at the right front corner to designate to the announcer and the fans which class you are running in. 3. All shows scheduled by the CVRA as open shows will require a $10 entry fee per car from non-memebrs, to go to the club general fund. 4. There will be a maximum of two cars per owner allowed at a given race. 5. All drivers must be a club member. 6. There must be at least 2 competitors in a class to be eligible for a trophy. 7. Visitors from other areas are welcome to race with our club once for free. Second time participants will be required to join our membership. 8.Feature winners shall forfeit their draw position at the next scheduled race and tag the rear of the next feature. 9. Participation points towards the travelling trophy shall be; 1 point for attendance, 1 point for finishing the heat, and 1 point for finishing the feature.
As a club, we believe that the fewer rules we have, the better off we are as a whole. This allows us to include as many types of cars as possible, within the general philosophy of the club. The club leadership will address any questions regarding the legality of any car or equipment during the season, and their decisions will be final until the issue can be raised at our fall rules meeting.
